Downtown O'Fallon is a place where all citizens once gathered to do commerce and social activity among their neighbors and friends. Warm friendly smiles and helpful shopkeepers were also part of this traditional lifestyle, a time when life was much simpler. A lifestyle and time those of us now only dream about. Main Street O'Fallon has captured the community spirit that prevails in this small but growing community. Many people, young and old, have joined together with their time, money, and energy to ensure that O'Fallon will always convey the small town essences. There are dedicated individuals who have families and full-time careers. Many grew up here in O'Fallon and some chose O'Fallon as their home after living throughout the United States and the world. O'Fallon was designated a Main Street Community in April of 1996. Since that time downtown O'Fallon has undergone significant changes. There are visible changes in the facades and streetscape, great activities, events, and image building campaigns. Several new businesses have opened downtown. To further enhance the charm of the railroad corridor and maintain the railroad theme throughout downtown, Main Street O'Fallon purchased a caboose.
